AND the XVI edition of the “Umberto Giordano” national musical competition has come to life, the contest for emerging talents, organized by the “Suoni del Sud” Association in collaboration with the Municipality of Foggia – Department of Culture, the Teatro Umberto Giordano, the provincial administration of Foggia, the Teatro Pubblico Pugliese and the support of the Musicalia Foundation of the Monti Uniti Foundation of Foggia and the 10 cum laude Award, which started last May 13th and will end tomorrow, May 17th.
Today, May 16th, the Drums section selections are taking place at the Teatro del Fuoco: 52 competing drummers will perform in front of the jury chaired by Gergo Borlai, drummer of Hungarian origin who currently lives in Barcelona. The presentation of the candidates will be by Cristian Levantaci, and this evening the winners will be announced with the delivery of certificates and the “G. Clementino Santangelo Award”.
Tomorrow, however, the final day will be dedicated to the long-awaited Talent Voice – modern singing section “Premio Gino Sannoner”. The 41 finalists from all over Italy selected at the end of April by the commission chaired by Serena Brancale will sing live on the stage of the Teatro Giordano, and their performances will be judged by the jury chaired by Tosca Donatiflanked by Lorenzo Ciuffreda and Gianni Cuciniello. The competition will be presented by Cristian Levantaciwhile starting from 7 pm the awards ceremony will take place in which will participate, as guests of honour, Serena Brancale and Simone Grande, the baby prodigy winner of the 2023 edition of the talent show ‘The Voice Kids’. The evening will be hosted by Levantaci and Alessandra Relmi.
Auditions for all sections will begin at 9.30 am and conclude in the late afternoon. Entrance to both theaters is free, until seats last.
