Friendly countryside, evening in Ghilarza with beef-based specialties

The “are returning”Evenings in the flesh“. Organized by Coldiretti and Oristano Friendly Campaign, Confcommercio and Federcarni Oristanoin collaboration with the Municipality and the Pro Loco of Ghilarzaevents promoting local meat and agri-food, Saturday 18 May, starting at 6pm, stop in the municipality of Alto Oristano. Workshops and specialties based on beef but also traditional local products with the producers of Campagna Amica, farmhouses and agri chefs, craft beers. On the model of quality street food (fast consumption of food), consumers will be offered traditional local peasant cuisine, with some modern interpretations, with authentic beef specialities.

The butchers of Federcarni Oristano will offer a series of products that enhance the local native breeds. At 6 pm, the initiative will be preceded by a meat workshop organized by the “Neighborhood Butchers” who will illustrate to the attendees, approximately 25/30 units, the organoleptic characteristics of the meat in relation to local breeding, grazing and animal welfare and sustainability of farming; the various types of cuts, the quality of the less noble parts with combinations with seasonings and cooking methods.

Well-kept laboratory Gildo Murgia from the Carni Doc butcher’s shop in Ghilarza with the support of various technicians and experts. From 7.30 pm you will be able to purchase various roasts and beef skewers made on site proposed by the “neighbourhood butchers”. In the Campagna amica companies you can find casizolu, honey and seasonal fruit. Traditional specialties will be represented by the Agrichef of the Sa Tanchitta farm in Ula Tirso, with Sos Cannisones, but also with vegan sandwiches and fried foods. The BAM, Mogorese Craft Brewery will participate with its appreciated and various craft beers. To cheer up the evening, the music of Matteo Scanua multifaceted local artist-musician.

For the director Coldiretti Emanuele Spanò, proposing local products “always represents a guarantee tool for consumption in terms of the quality and healthiness of the product. Nature – states the Coldiretti manager – the work and professionalism of the operators cannot be replaced by synthetic or counterfeit foods, which do not alter food traditions but, above all, do not give health guarantees. The activity of the Confcommercio butchers – underlines the president of Coldiretti Oristano, Paolo Corrias – is extremely useful and constructive. It demonstrates how there are many operators who bet on local and local meat, which still represents a peculiarity of our province. These events create moments of discussion with consumers and are also a tool for the protection and promotion of biodiversity and agri-food”. Gildo Murgia, representing the butchers, underlines the important role played by the “neighbourhood butchers”. Local products are still a prerogative of our structures – he says – flavor and food safety are guaranteed. Like many product qualities that are the result of skilful meat processing. On this we are still a point of reference for communities in many areas of the province.”
