Checks on the streets of Bergamo: ten fined, four reported

An important control service, implemented in one of the key junctions of the motorway axis in the province of Bergamo, saw the use of four patrols and a mobile office which subjected fifty cars (ten sanctioned) to checks, with their occupants . Objective: to guarantee road safety and combat impaired driving, caused by alcohol abuse or substance use.

State police officers were involved in the control operations, with the Bergamo traffic police section, the Brescia section and the Seriate subsection, together with the staff of the health office of the local police headquarters.

Ten sanctioned, four reported

All stopped drivers were given a pre-test, a quick test to check if their alcohol level was altered and beyond the legal limits. The precursor, with a first exhalation test, signals that the limits have been exceeded.

In the event of a positive result, the driver is subjected to a further test, by means of an actual breathalyzer test, aimed at determining the actual quantity of alcohol present in the blood. Fifty cars were stopped throughout the night and ten drivers were fined.

Specifically, nine for the violation of the art. 186 c. 2 CDS or 186 bis (new drivers), and one for the violation of the art. 187 cds. The latter, who had aroused interest in the operators for an uncertain driving and lack of ordinary reflexes, despite having been found negative for the precursor alcohol, tested positive for the alteration due to the intake of cannabinoids and amphetamines, with subsequent reporting.

Three other people were referred to the judicial authorities. as they fall within the alcohol percentage range between 0.8 – 1.5 g/L, in one case even with the parameter which has risen up to 2.52 g/L.
