Historic car rally in Palermo, twinning with Salerno

Next weekend, Palermo will be the stage for a gathering of historic cars from the clubs of Palermo and Salerno. The event, which will be held from 24 to 26 May, marks the twinning between the Vincenzo Florio club of Palermo and that of Salerno. The celebrations will start on Friday morning in the Carriage Hall of the Giuseppe Pitrè municipal museum. The local authorities, including the vice mayor of Palermo Giampiero Cannella and the councilor for culture Alessandro Anello, together with the representatives of the historic car clubs, will present the program of the three-day tourist circuit.

The program includes guided tours of museums and city villas, conviviality at the Officers’ Club in the Favorita Park and the Unified Club in Piazza Sant’Oliva. In the afternoon, the crews will move to Mondello and then to Monte Pellegrino to pay homage to Santa Rosalia on the fourth centenary of the discovery of her mortal remains. The event will continue in Monreale and Bagheria.

Among the cars that will parade through the streets of the city, a unique example of the 1968 Fiat 850 minibus stands out, built on commission by Fiat by the Osi body shop.
