Viterbo – Angelo Rambelli botanical garden event

The event will be held on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May, from 10am to 7pm, at the botanical garden and will offer visitors the opportunity to participate in numerous activities designed not only for enthusiasts but also for families. Particular attention was paid to the organization of moments dedicated to the little ones. It will be an extraordinary opportunity to spend an entire day immersed in nature.

The central event of the initiative will be the inauguration of the new rose garden which will be preceded by a study session dedicated to the “Rose, queen of flowers”, with various insights aimed at illustrating the importance of this wonderful plant in different fields: from botany to history up to the most advanced cultivation and hybridization techniques. At the end, Carlo Carulli, rose expert, will guide the inaugural visit of the rose garden.

During the event it will be possible to speak with rose experts who will be able to answer all visitors’ curiosities about the cultivation and care of roses.

On the occasion of this event, a “special” greenhouse was set up where the plants represent the ideal setting that welcomes hundreds of colorful tropical butterflies from the Philippines, Mexico and the Amazon Forest. Visitors will be able to admire these splendid insects up close by following their development phases: starting from the chrysalises, placed in a special incubator, it will be possible to witness their metamorphosis and observe the first flight of the new butterflies.

The experience will be guided by Federica Giarruzzo, entomologist, and Diana Martignoni, technician of the botanical garden who will answer all the curiosities of adults and children.

For the entire duration of the event, in the cool setting of the Arboretum, a market exhibition of plants, crafts and typical products of Tuscia will be set up, which will offer visitors the opportunity to discover and purchase high quality local products.

In the teaching room, you can visit an exhibition of watercolors dedicated to the Rosaceae family, curated by Veronica Hadjiphani Lorenzetti, and see unusual informative videos that show fascinating aspects of the life of butterflies. It will also be possible to visit an entomological exhibition and participate in the interactive laboratory “Insects: observe them… and see what they see”, organized by professor Stefano Speranza.

For the little ones, the “FantaVolando” workshop will offer creative activities, making the event a perfect opportunity for families.

The event will continue with many other engaging activities, you will be able to witness the creation of “perfumes” through the distillation of flowers, participate in naturalistic drawing workshops, thematic show-cooking organized by Slow Food and yoga lessons held by the association Asd LiberoMovimento.

The days will be enriched by guided tours of the botanical garden and the rose garden, in addition, in the afternoon, it will be possible to explore the works of contemporary art present in the botanical garden, guided by experts from the university museum system. For more information on the event we invite you to visit the dedicated website and the social pages of the botanical garden.

We look forward to seeing many of you to live an unforgettable experience among roses and butterflies.
