The construction of the artificial rockfall tunnel at Giuncano, approximately 40 meters long, is progressing regularly to protect the railway site from hydrogeological instability phenomena. An intervention which – together with the technological and infrastructural improvement of the railway section between Terni and Foligno – led to the closure of train transit in the area, with the two cities and Spoleto connected by replacement buses.

The works are also carried out at night, 24 hours a day and this is allowing the scheduled times to be respected.

Taking stock of the situation is the regional councilor Enrico Melasecche, who takes the opportunity to thank all the technicians and workers for the highly professional commitment with which they are working towards the construction of this tunnel in a few days.

At the same time, maximum attention continues to be paid to replacement services for commuters and passengers. For months before the start of the works, in fact, the Region urged Trenitalia and RFI to adopt the best possible solutions to minimize the inconveniences resulting from the interruption of railway circulation during the execution period, with the activation of a specific discussion table and the involvement of the Commuter Committee Coordination, and acted as an interpreter of the critical issues that emerged by requesting and obtaining remodulations of the services on several occasions. The situation is checked daily, with continuous dialogue, and will be until the end of the works, which will guarantee greater safety and regularity of the service as well as potential improvements in future services.
