In Faenza on May 9th from 3pm to 6.30pm at Faventia Sales in via San Giovanni Bosco1 (Room 5) a meeting entitled will be held “Building Back Better”dedicated to the calamitous events that occurred in May 2023, their consequences and how to look forward to ensure that similar tragedies do not occur again.
In Emilia Romagna from 1 to 18 May I am over 4.5 billion cubic meters of water fell; in the 6 days in which the two waves of bad weather were most intense it rained for a total of 80 hours. The damages estimated by the Region amount to approximately 10 billion eurosnecessary to rebuild the banks of the rivers, secure the landslide areas, provide answers to the many citizens who have suffered damage to their homes or businesses or who have even lost them completely.
The technical-scientific commission established by the Emilia Romagna Region before the appointment of Commissioner Figliuolo highlighted how this was indeed an exceptional event, a real “watershed between past and future” and therefore obliges us to intervene with innovative and non-innovative approaches. already “simply” restoring what was there. The preliminary Special Plan presented in the region a few weeks ago seems to go in this direction, also addressing the difficult issue of delocalisation.
Legambiente, as an association of citizens, with the “Rebuilding Better” event wants to contribute so that the choices that will be made in Emilia-Romagna constitute an innovative example of safety, of regeneration of the physical, productive and social heritage, and of participation , a fundamental tool so that the choices made are shared and not opposed.
