Terni, the ambulance becomes a traveling medical practice for the fight against tumors: Agreement between Lilt and the Red Cross

A collaboration agreement between Lilt Terni and the Terni committee of the Red Cross will allow the association to reach even those citizens who are unable to reach the Lilt headquarters to carry out medical visits.

The Red Cross has, in fact, made an ambulance equipped like a doctor’s office available to Lilt and its volunteer doctors.

“The aim – explains the president Luigia Chirico – is to carry out the same visits that are usually carried out in the medical office of our headquarters by our volunteer doctors, with the only difference being that it will not be the sick who come to us, but they will our doctors to reach citizens where they live and carry out visits to the place where the ambulance-doctor’s office will be positioned”.

The idea born thanks to the intuition of Fiorella Ciani, coordinator of Lilt Umbria and Antonella Triassi, vice president of Lilt of Terni, coordinators of the project together with Roberto Valeriani, coordinator of the Cri committee of Terni, has already been successfully tested last year , when breast examinations were carried out in Narni, Amelia, Ferentillo and Arrone during pink October.

“This year we are thinking of reaching the citizens of the villages around Terni, many of which are inhabited, especially in the winter months, by elderly people. Obviously there will be a good connection with the pharmacies and the tourist offices, where they are present, so that the afternoon of visits is made known and that people can find out in time to book”.

All this while Lilt, which guarantees medical visits for the prevention of cancer to anyone who requests them, has expanded the number of doctors who collaborate with the association: “We realized that some fundamental professional figures were missing to get closer to the most fragile represented by children and the elderly. And this is why Lilt has a pediatrician, a pulmonologist and a geriatrician” says Luigia Chirico.
