TRENT. Starting from Tuesday 14 May, and until Sunday 19, the city of Trento will host delegations from around a hundred voluntary associations from 22 European countries, to exchange good practices and discuss the future of the third sector.
The initiative – presented at the press conference – is entitled “Spring volunteering congress” and is part of the program for Trento, European and national capital of volunteering 2024.
The week will see local, national and European voluntary associations as protagonists, with various moments of discussion, debates and workshops open to citizens. There will also be opportunities for meetings, shows, public readings and games for the little ones.
Overall, around 115 people from all over Europe are expected in the Trentino capital. The event will be preceded by the third meeting of the presidents of the Italian Volunteer Service Centers (CSV), scheduled for Friday 10th and Saturday 11th May. The initiative, which will focus on the role of the third sector (with particular reference to health, depopulation and social economy), will be held at Palazzo Benvenuti, in via Belenzani, with the participation of representatives of the 49 national centres.
National meeting. Furthermore, the third meeting of the presidents of the 49 Italian Volunteer Service Centers (CSV) will be held at Palazzo Benvenuti next Friday 10 and Saturday 11 May.
After the first two events in the already capitals of volunteering Bergamo (2022) and Cosenza (2023), the event has established itself over the years as a precious opportunity to systematise, also this year in the setting of the Italian and European Capital of Volunteering, the process of analysis and listening that led to the redefinition of CSV’s vision. On the basis of the path taken so far, the objective of this Meeting, carried out with the support of the CSV of Trento, is to define some strategic themes on which to articulate common programming and challenging projects to support Italian volunteering in the next three-year period 2025-2027.
The over 60 participants, including presidents and governance members arriving from all over Italy, will discuss with experts and institutional representatives on some strategic issues, including the role of the third sector in the planning of public policies with particular reference to health, the depopulation of internal areas, how to promote generational turnover in non-profit organizations and the role of the third sector in promoting a more social economy that is attentive to communities.
