The municipal councilor of Caserta Raffaele Giovine, exponent of the political movement Caserta Decide, presented a question to request urgent interventions from the municipal administration led by the mayor Carlo Marino in Piazza Aldo Moro, an area known to the Caserta residents as “the parchetti del Corso” because located in a side square of Corso Trieste, the central street of the capital. “In March 2021 – explains Giovine – the Municipality announced the completion of the works, costing 130 thousand euros, which included the renovation of the lighting and paving. Today, just 3 years after the end of the works, the paving is almost completely torn up and has become dangerous for those who frequent the square which is in a state of total abandonment”.

“In the question – adds the city councilor who ran for mayor in the last elections – we also ask to know if it is the Administration’s intention to take action against the company carrying out the works: public funds cannot be squandered in this way. In just 3 years the square almost needs to be completely redone, something unacceptable. We hope that the lack of checks that occurred on Piazza Aldo Moro are not the same ones that will be implemented on the PNRR construction sites already underway in the city. Public spaces and public funds on the investments invested must be spent wisely and respecting the highest standards of durability over time, otherwise the risk is of leaving useless, or even worse, harmful works to the city”.
