In total in Campania more than have been registered 85,500 accesses in archaeological and monumental sites, with free access like every first Sunday of the month. This is an unsurpassed record in Italy, these are numbers that confirm the attention and passion of visitors towards the art places of the region.
Obviously among the numbers of the whole Campania the overall ones of the city of Naples are gigantic where yesterday, the lines of tourists have been inexhaustible since the opening, in all sites intended for free visits.
Tourism
In the city, the influx of museums is favored by the constant presence of tourists which shows no sign of decreasing even after the long days long weekend of April 25th/May 1st. The streets of the historic center are overwhelmed by visitors and, where tourism allows itself an understandable decline, the Neapolitans themselves intervene to increase the number of accesses to places that are worth a visit even by those who have already been there and are trying to recover the relationship with art and beauty.
Yesterday was at the top of the list of sites with the greatest influx of visitors Castel Sant’Elmo. They climbed to the top of the Vomerese hill 7,892 people, mostly Italian tourists plus a few foreigners and a small handful of Neapolitans. The visit to the castle, in addition to Museum of the Twentieth Century, it also allows you to enjoy an unparalleled panorama which even on half-sunny days, like yesterday’s, allows you to take memorable photographs.

In the overall national account of the day, like every Sunday with free access, in first place are the excavations of Pompeii which yesterday welcomed more than 31 thousand visitors. Ranking confirmed with second place Colosseum at 18 thousand visitors and third position in the number of visits, reserved for Royal Palace of Caserta where 15 thousand accesses were reached (14,953 to be precise).
In Campaniain addition to the excavations of Pompeii, it is the entire archaeological sector that drives visits. In Paestum 5,451 accesses were counted. In the area of Phlegraean Fields between castle of Bay and archaeological park of Cuma there were 2,300 tourists while the Baia spa park recorded 800 tickets sold. TO Villa Arianna and Villa San Marcojust over a thousand people showed up in the Stabiae area, 836 to the villa of Poppea in Oplontis. Smaller numbers, but larger than the usual influx, also due to theFlavian Amphitheater of Pozzuoli (646 hits), the archaeological area of Velia (403) e the Antiquarium of Boscoreale (396).
