It was the year 1985 when the Brescia-Monte Magno became in a short time a classic for Juniorsor rather, as one of its inventors renamed it, a “worthwhile race”.
This is because the roll of honor of the race which ends on the steep slope of Monte Magno, over 4 kilometers with an average gradient of 9.4% and sections which never fall below double figures, tells of young winning athletes who then went on to become in the following seasons they moved into the professionals and had a great career. An example for everyone last year with the victory of Simone Gualdi who a few weeks later became Italian champion of category e today he plays in a foreign development team of a World Tour team.
The race
On Sunday the appointment with the race is renewed which Commendatore Luciano Manelli, in collaboration with UC Soprazzocco which is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary and the president of the provincial committee of the FCI Gianni Pozzani, has been able to bring back to the glories of the past.
In fact, the 37th edition is being held because it has to serve a three-year break in the middle of the second decade of this century and the stop due to Covid. The meeting is as usual at the premises of the Renault Dacia Manelli dealership in via Triumplina 38.
Path
The route is now tested and involves the transfer of the group at controlled speed from via Triumplina to viale Venezia where the flying start will take place. We continue in the eastern direction of Garda passing through Virle, Mazzano, Nuvolera, Nuvolento, Paitone, Prevalle and Gavardo where four laps will begin which include the climb to Soprazzocco, the Cavallino pass, and then Calvagese, Prevalle and the return to Gavardo for a new lap at at the end of which you turn left towards Sopraponte and near the church crossroads turn right and start the really challenging climb up to the finish line of Monte Magno for a total of 97 km.
