STOP – La biomethane power plant he united politics of all colors. The first point in common is that “we didn’t know anything”, the second is that “we don’t want the power plant in the Paludi area, a stone’s throw from the Luce Cretarola district”.

Hence, a succession of urgent questions at municipal level and now also a regional motion. “In the San Marco alle Paludi area, in the municipality of Fermo and close to the municipalities of Sant’Elpidio a Mare, Porto Sant’Elpidio and Monte Urano, they are about to build a power plant that produces biomethane using 5,400 tons of manure every year. There is talk of a two-hectare plot of land where storage tanks and composters will be built” summarize Andrea Putzu and Marco Marinangeli, regional councilors of Fratelli d’Italia and Lega.

“Reading the documents, it is a private individual who built this power plant on a private initiative. What is more disconcerting is the request presented in March 2023, at the municipality of Fermo, with a request approved with silent consent” they reiterate.

The fear is that “this power plant could create a great impact on our territory and looking from a tourist point of view it will certainly not enhance the municipality of Fermo and the other neighboring ones. We believe that all politics should think in terms of valorising the territory.”

Returning to the municipal level, a question was presented by Sandro Vallasciani and the minority councilors in Fermo. The incipit is similar, but the questions that the minority asks the Calcinaro administration are different: “Whether it intends to initiate specific controls in case of impotence in the face of the authorization process and whether it does not deem it necessary to carry out further environmental investigations. Obviously, this is only if the municipal authorization for the power plant is confirmed.”

And if this is Fermo, the minority of Sant’Elpidio in Amre is no less, after Alessandrini it is Gionata Calcinari who questions the mayor Alessio Pignotti: We learned that he participated in a meeting on this topic, he could also inform everyone. I find his behavior serious.” What embittered Calcinari, and all the other councilors in the various municipalities, is that it was in the press that the news emerged: “what will the mayor do, what policies will he adopt? We are talking about a project that has been going on for a year and that no one has informed us about. We need to involve the councillors, the citizens of Luce Cretarola, unfortunately we have a clear political inability in the Pignotti administration”.
