Solidarity calls, Varese responds: 400 people at the solidarity dinner

Success for “Add a Meal to the Table”, an initiative of sharing, solidarity and sustainability against food waste.

In the heart of Varese, 400 people gathered for an evening of sharing and solidarity during the “Add a meal to the table” charity dinner. Among them, around a hundred needy people, welcomed and assisted by local associations. Everyone sat together, erasing differences, to enjoy dinner under the tent set up in Piazza San Vittore. The atmosphere was vibrant with joy and cheerfulness, also fueled by the presence of Max Laudadio, well-known face of “Striscia la notizia”, who enlivened the evening with his lively style. Also present were important institutional figures, such as the mayor of Varese, the provost of Varese Don Luigi Panighetti and the episcopal vicar Don Franco Gallivanone, as well as other local and religious representatives.

The evening’s menu reflected the theme of the event: fighting waste. We started with a mixed appetizer of cold cuts and a vegetable pie, followed by a pasta pasticciata as a first course. The dessert, a cake with Saint Anthony’s bread, was prepared by the association of the same name at the Casa della Carità della Brunella.

During the evening, Don Marco Casale, promoter of the Varesèsolidale committee, launched an appeal for unity and collaboration between the various associations of the city, highlighting that Varese is a community of solidarity, even if sometimes this is not fully perceived. He underlined the importance of working together to achieve common goals, joining forces for a more significant impact on the territory.
