Lega’s Valletta: “Exploitation in the center should be avoided”

The leader of the League in the Latina city council, Vincenzo Valletta takes a position on the recent attacks in the center of Latina.

“On the topic of attacks and the proliferation of baby gangs and petty crime phenomena in Latina – he said – political exploitation must be avoided. The opposition must prove itself responsible and act in a compact manner with the majority, because stemming and eradicating the occurrence of such events must be a common objective, non-partisan and free of any ideological contamination”.

“I am stunned to read in the local press of the question presented by councilor Daniela Fiore. The content is certainly acceptable but has the full flavor of political exploitation, considering that the undersigned, together with the Lega and UDC councilors, presented an ad hoc motion. Motion which, as councilor Fiore well knows, will be discussed in the next municipal council scheduled for May 9th and commits the Mayor and the Council to establish an economic allocation for the activation of an emergency response and patrolling service by the Local Police , the establishment of a ‘municipal committee’ made up of representatives of the various local institutions and a working table between all the law enforcement agencies aimed at increasing control and security interventions.

Why question the mayor on the issue when it will be addressed openly in the city council, where among other things – as I hope – all the political forces that compose it can intervene? What Councilor Fiore revealed is certainly not a good way of doing politics. Far from it. It is evidence of the defeatist, pedantic and not at all inclusive attitude of a certain opposition, the same one that previously, sitting among the seats of the majority, did nothing to stem petty crime and increase security, other than promoting the usual catwalks made of slogans and lots of smoke.

I repeat – Valletta concludes – we must act on the subject immediately and in full synergy, staying away from party conflicts, which is why I hope that the motion can be shared and approved unanimously by the entire meeting, without exception. Today, at least on this front, the opposition must demonstrate a great sense of responsibility, must sit alongside its majority colleagues and share possible solutions together. We owe it to our city, respecting all those who were victims of such attacks.”
