Viterbo – The awards ceremony for the 19th edition of the competition for the best traditional breads and baked products “Premio Roma” and the 21st edition of the competition for the best cheeses “Premio Roma” was held today at the Sala del Tempio di Vibia Sabina and Adriano . The two competitions of excellence are promoted by the Rome Chamber of Commerce and carried out by Agro Camera (Special Agency of the same Chamber for the valorisation of the agri-food sector) in synergy with the Special Agency for Development and Territory and the Chambers of Commerce of Lazio including that of Rieti-Viterbo.

Two competitions which saw 8 companies from Tuscia awarded which won 13 prizes, demonstrating, as commented by the president of the Rieti Viterbo Chamber of Commerce, Domenico Merlani, “a growing quality of the agri-food production of Northern Lazio, also demonstrated by the great success of the public and press of the Assaggi event which has just ended in the historic center of Viterbo“.

To reward the winners of Tuscia, among others, Giorgio Barchiesi, aka “Giorgione” (face of Gambero Rosso since 2012, protagonist of television programs and author of cookbooks) and the general secretary of the Rieti Viterbo Chamber of Commerce, Francesco Monzillo.

As regards the best cheeses, Caseificio Cioffi snc takes first place with its “Fior di Latte” in the “Fresh Stretched Pastry” category of the “Rome and Lazio Section” which sees another company from Viterbo as third place, the ” Piccola Formaggeria Artigiana”, always with the “Fior di Latte”. In the “First sale” category, the Monte Jugo agricultural company from Viterbo came first and also triumphed in the “National and international section” among the “Bloomy rind, washed rind and blue cheeses” with its “Straccchinato”. All Viterbo podium for the “Semi-mature cheeses” category: first place Alta Tuscia Formaggi srl with “L’Antico di Civita di Bagnoregio”, second place “Fiore di Rocca” by Radicetti Girolamo and Antonio ssa, third place Agricola Amaltea srl ​​with the “Count’s Pecorino”. The “Napoleone” cheese from Alta Tuscia Formaggi srl also wins the first prize in the “Mature cheeses” category as well as the special prize for the “Best cheese of interest for national and foreign markets”, while in the category dedicated to fresh ricotta the Piccola Formaggeria Artigiana returns to the podium (third place) with its “Sheep’s Ricotta”.

Good performance by companies from Viterbo also in the Rome Award for the best breads and traditional baked products, which saw Pasticceria Gentili win the award for the “Best baked product of interest for national markets” with its “Etruscan breadsticks”. and foreign” in the “Rome and Lazio Section” and third place in the “National Section”, “Taralli and breadsticks” category. The “multigrain and seed bread” from Panificio Fiorentini snc takes first place in the “Wholemeal and functional breads” category of the “National Section”.
