A Unimore delegation will participate in ‘Modena Pride’

A delegation from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia will participate in ‘Modena Pride’, the initiative organized by Arcigay Modena “Matthew Shepard” and Agedo Bologna, which returns to Modena on Saturday 25 May, after 5 years of absence, to highlight the importance of combating all forms of discrimination towards the LGBTQIA+ community. The delegation made up of Unimore members will meet at the entrance to the Enzo Ferrari Park, at the monument dedicated to the Drake, at 2.00 pm, and then join the parade.

The event will in fact start in the early afternoon with a street parade that will start from the Ferrari Park and will wind through the historic heart of the city of Modena. The 2019 edition of the event was a notable success, with the participation of over 25 thousand people.

“We believe that this is a very important moment – comments Tindara Addabbo, Rector’s Delegate for Equal Opportunities – to continue a path that began with the formation of an internal table at Unimore with the LGBTQI+ associations of the two provinces on which our University insists; we therefore invite university components to participate”.

“The first Modena edition of the event had a significant echo, both locally and nationally, demonstrating the city’s growing commitment to the visibility and rights of the LGBTQIA+ community” – adds Prof. Addabbo – “to in light of the growing inequalities present in Italy and around the world to the detriment of the LGBTQIA+ community, we believe it is important to participate in PRIDE as a University”.

Arcigay Modena “Matthew Shepard”, is the local association part of the wider national Arcigay network, which works to guarantee equality and fight discrimination against LGBTQIA+ people in Italy.

AGEDO is the Association of Parents of Homosexuals that supports parents and family members of LGBTQIA+ people, promoting acceptance and rights within families.
