VERONA – The corks that will pop from the bottles of Astoria sparkling wine in the hands of the stage winners of the Giro d’Italia, starting today with the Venaria Reale – Turin stage, are produced by Vinventions.
Derived from sugar cane, it is the first cork in the world without CO2 emissions even with a negative carbon footprint that producers can use on credit to calculate their carbon footprint and 100% recyclable.
The cap that will be the protagonist of the Giro d’Italia was presented at Vinitaly, to our microphones, by Antonino La Placacommercial director Vinventions Italia.
Pride for the collaboration with Astoria, the official bubbles of the Giro d’Italia 2024, for 21 stages until Sunday 26 May.
“Today new companies focus on sustainability and sustainability can be achieved thanks to innovation” said La Placa.
Leading the way is Astoria Wines from Treviso, one of the big names in Prosecco, which has signed an agreement with the global producer Vinventions for the first use in the world of its new NOMACORC Pops stopper, a stopper for sparkling wines made of plastic of vegetal origin obtained from sugar cane and with zero carbon footprint.
The main feature of this stopper, created after 5 years of research and tests, is to guarantee the same mechanical properties of a normal cork stopper and the optimal conservation of the carbonic gas dissolved in the bottle, but with complete sensorial neutrality and without the risk of TCA (or TriChloroAnisole, the molecule that causes the typical “corky taste” and is usually due to fungi present in cork).
