From Abruzzo to Calabria, of the 76 Italian MEPs the “exterminated” southern constituency elects 18. Once the deadlines for the presentation of the lists have expired on 1 May, the campaign for the elections of 8 and 9 June comes to life.
Aldo Patriciello aims to return to Brussels for the fifth time, this time running with the League on the list headed in the South as well as in the Center by General Vannacci. Once the rift with Forza Italia was over, Patriciello was also courted by other allies. There had been significant meetings with the Brothers of Italy, for example. But the agreement was reached with the Minister of Infrastructure, so “Mister 100 thousand preferences” is the man Salvini is counting on to make his breakthrough in the South.
Yesterday morning in Naples was the presentation of the team that the Northern League fields in the Southern College. «This new, exciting and exciting adventure officially begins. But for weeks now – Patriciello commented – I have been meeting friends, citizens and administrators of the South to collect the requests of the territories and to write, together, a new page of our future”.
In the running with the prime minister’s party, who leads the list, is the lawyer Mariangela Di Biase from Campobasso. National vice-president of the young lawyers association, Aiga, her name would have been inserted directly in via della Scrofa. At the regional elections, Di Biase ran for a regional seat with the “The Molise we want” movement. Right next to Patriciello.
The Democratic Party has also used a local name for the competition: in the list headed by the journalist Lucia Annunziata (among others the mayor of Bari Decaro, the outgoing MEP Piecierno and Sandro Ruotolo are candidates) there is in fact the secretary of the Guglionesi Annamaria Becci.
Giovanni Germano, creator and promoter of the “Cammina, Molise” event and father of the award-winning actor Elio Germano, took the field with the Verdi Sinistra alliance. The team is led by the former mayor of Riace Mimmo Lucano
Along with Michele Santoro, who with the Pace Terra Dignità movement has reached the goal of signatures to be collected for the presentation of the list, Paolo Della Ventura, an expert in the fight against the climate crisis, is the candidate. Born in Campobasso, he has lived in L’Aquila for years. He is a member of the CGIL Abruzzo Molise bodies.
Riccardo Di Palma is the candidate with the 5s (whom the Five Star Movement also nominated for the 2022 elections and the 2023 regional elections). Campobassano, he works in Rome in the banking sector. Leading Conte’s team in the South is former INPS president Pasquale Tridico.
Excluded in the Central constituency, the Popular Alternative list of the mayor of Terni Bandecchi was admitted in the Southern constituency. The Molise coordinator of the movement Roberto de Angelis is in the running.
