A few hours later, around midday, a test flight by the Frecce Tricolori was scheduled at the Preturo Parks airport, but following the fatal accident, today’s demonstration was canceled and all spectators present were sent away.

The 41 year old Paolo Dal Pozzo he was there because he was the employee pilot of the Avincis company, the company entrusted with the air rescue service in Abruzzo. He was originally from Lombardy, more precisely from Varese. He had left the city to join the Navy and become a helicopter pilot.

Here he specialized in maintenance, flight development and training programs. One of his great passions is photography. And just as he was taking a photo he was hit by the tanker. He leaves behind a wife and two children.

The manager of the 118 service of the ASL 1 Avezzano Sulmona L’Aquila, Gino Bianchi, expressed his condolences to Ansa as follows: “I am deeply saddened and struck by this new tragedy which affects the helicopter rescue service of the ASL of L’Aquila. my solidarity with the Avincis company and above all my condolences to the family of the co-pilot who died in this tragic way”
