Federico Furiani wins the 49th edition of the 100 km del Passatore

Federico Furiani (bib number 2994) from TX Fitness he triumphed at the 49th Passatorecrossing the finish line in 7h 10′ 57” preceding Massimo Giacopuzzi (US Dolomitica) of 7’22” e David Colgan (Atletica Castenaso Celtic Druid) reached the finish line 15’27” from the top.

Gutierrez, Glyva, Giacopuzzi and David Colgan were a minute and a half behind in their comeback.

On the female front Moroni provisional fifteenth followed by Silvia Luna (27th overall).

Near Panicaglia Furiani regained the lead of the race followed by Glyva, Giacopuzzi and Colgan. More distant from the Camprincoli group, followed in turn by a comeback trio with Luca Parisi, Gabriele Turroni and Luigi Pecora. Previous leader Duarte slowed down momentarily and then made up ground to take provisional second place at Passo della Colla.

Furiani reiterated his excellent form by passing at the stroke of 3h30’11” followed 4 minutes by Duarte (who will be his closest rival until Marradi). In third place Giacopuzzi, followed by Colgan, Bovanini, Parisi, Camprincoli and Pecora.

Turroni and Glyva were further behind to complete the provisional top 10 halfway through the race. Furiani having passed first at the Passo della Colla wins the Mountain GP (dedicated to Francesco Calderoni) while Moroni – the first woman at Passo della Collava – received the award named in memory of Angela Bettoli.

TO Marradi Camprincoli recovered ground, moving into 6th provisional position and Moroni gained a position in the overall ranking. Furiani passed Brisighella in 6 hours 19 minutes and 14 seconds, preceding Giacopuzzi by 6 minutes, followed by Duarte 5′ behind.

After Brisighella, Furiani no longer had rivals, surprisingly winning the 49th edition of the Passatore 100 km. 2nd Giacopuzzi, 3rd Colgan (good at recovering in the final part). 4th Dario Pietro Ferrante (with a great career), 5th Federico Camprincoli, 6th Andrea Macchi, 7th Duarte Oliveira, 8th Luigi Pecora, 9th Filippo Bovanini, 10th Gabriele Turroni.

The fastest Florentine was Derek Bowsher at the finish line in 9 hours 51 minutes and 11 seconds, followed by Leonardo Castro and Saverio Simonelli.

This year too, no significant problems have been reported, even in terms of security guaranteed by the police.

Many people and enthusiasts were present along the route to support and encourage the competitors and the organisation, as well as in Piazza del Duomo in Florence and in Piazza del Popolo in Faenza.
