The situation of the workers of Abramo Customer Care SpA is now unsustainable. With the extraordinary administration procedure due to end on 7 August 2024, urgent and concrete government intervention is needed to ensure a stable future for all 1,000 workers of the company. The government must immediately convene a crisis table with all interested parties: local institutions, TIM, employers and unions.
Abramo Customer Care SpA is facing a significant crisis: it has seen work volumes drastically reduce, with a consequent increase in the use of social safety nets and a related cut in pay. The workers are going through a long agony, between agreements, extraordinary administration, failed transfer procedures and uncertainty about the future. The recent agreement for the sale of a company branch to a consortium of investors involves only 200 of the 1,000 workers, offering worsening conditions both from the point of view of rights and wages.
For months the Government has been announcing meetings and solutions to adapt workers’ skills and involve them in new national projects such as the digitization of public administration paper archives, but nothing concrete has been achieved. As also reported by the trade unions, these promises have not been reflected in facts.
We need concrete and sustainable solutions such as the application of the social clause, provided for by law, which has already made it possible to secure 3,700 workers at Abramo Customer Care SpA. It is time for the government to act with responsibility and urgency to safeguard jobs and the future of the workers of Abramo Customer Care SpA before it is too late and this latest crisis becomes a further indelible stain on the management of the economic and social system in Calabria and in the country
