We learn from the newspapers that there will only be one woman on the Board of Directors of the CRC Foundation!
Article 6 of the Statute, c. 5 reads: “In the composition of its bodies, the foundation adheres to the principle of adequate gender presence”
It is true that such a generic term can be interpreted in various ways, but we believe it is appropriate to borrow the legislation provided for by the so-called “Gulf-Moscow” law which provides for a minimum shareholding for the boards of directors of listed companies and companies controlled by public administrations. of each kind equal to 30% which should be increased and reach 40% in 2026. (let’s point out that each gender does not mean 30% women and 70% men, vice versa is also fine!)
In this case, however, it was decided to appoint a Board of Directors Made up of 6 men and 1 woman: this is a situation that is far from ensuring adequate representation.
We consider this to be a very serious fact: if an organization that provides so much money for so many projects were governed on an equal basis between men and women, it would certainly make different choices, as its representatives have different interests and sensitivities. It should be representative of 50% of the reference population, whereas in this case it almost exclusively represents male and patriarchal power.
All the battles carried out in recent years have been of no use: bodies that have more than one appointment are by law forced to indicate a representative of a different sex, while those who only have one do not worry: they almost always choose men, in as they are considered the only ones in possession of those skills and abilities required by the statute!
For years now, women have been asking for equal representation criteria to be respected in institutions, an indispensable premise for promoting the change in sensitivity and culture necessary to overcome violence and gender inequalities.
We ask the designating bodies that will have to proceed with the appointments by subrogation to indicate a woman among the many in possession of the required qualifications, at least equal to those of the people being rumored about, considered suitable only because they are linked to political power.
We must all be aware that without gender equality and rights, civil and democratic coexistence, useful to the whole of society, is not possible.
