Childhood and the City has begun, the event which focuses on the dialogue between the city and children, created by the educational services in collaboration with Teatri di Pistoia, the Center for Families, the San Giorgio Library, and the Unicef ​​Provincial Committee of Pistoia. The theme of this edition revolves around the question “What is a child?” and it is taken from an illustrated book by Beatrice Alemagna, inspired by what she writes, namely “A child is a small person, with small hands, small feet and small ears, but not for this reason with small ideas”.

THE EXHIBITIONS

From Tuesday 23 April, at 5pm in the atrium of the Town Hall, the exhibition entitled What is a child? will be open. Gallery of child-friendly features and portraits. This is an exhibition of the path carried out by the Yellow, Green and Blue Children’s Areas of the Municipality of Pistoia, with boys, girls and adults. From these experiences developed the desire to share the “voices” of childhood with the entire city. The exhibition is free and open to all during the opening hours of the Town Hall. It will remain open until May 19th.

From Friday 10 May, at 5pm in the Yellow Children’s Area in via degli Armeni 5/a it will be possible to visit the exhibition Jole’s mysterious journey in the city.

Visits are scheduled on the afternoons of May 14, 15, 16, 21, 22 and 23. It is an itinerary that goes through Jole’s life in one day, built and created by a group of educators and teachers who, over the course of six months, have explored the art of artistic installations aimed at children, starting from the story by Jole by Silvia Vecchini.

The initiative is curated by Patrizia Menichelli Arcadia Ars. The exhibition will remain open until May 31st. It will be possible to visit it for free in small groups with reservations required. For information: [email protected], 0573 371818 (from 8am to 12.30pm).

THE READINGS

Stories in the Piazzetta – Piazza Mandela, Fornaci district – Saturday 4 May at 5.30pm

On Sunday 5 May, at 10am, children aged 2 to 10 accompanied by an adult will be able to listen to stories and stories inside the premises of the historic centre. The initiative is organized by the 0/6 educational services of the Municipality of Pistoia and private nurseries, in collaboration with the San Giorgio Family Center and Library, Cna, Confartigianato, Confcommercio, Confesercenti and Commercio Pistoia.

THE LABORATORIES

Workshops are scheduled on Saturday 18 May, at 10am in the Yellow Children’s Area with adults, curated by Silvia Vecchini, poet and author of books for children and teenagers. PRESENTATION OF BOOKS

On Saturday 18 May, at 5pm in the Flying Garden there will be a presentation of the books I children break easily by Silvia Vecchini (Bompiani editions, images by Sualzo) and I children by Giovanna Zoboli (Interno Poesia edition, images by Enrico Pantani). The authors Silvia Vecchini, Giovanna Zoboli and Moira Sannipoli, associate professor in Didactics and Special Pedagogy at the University of Perugia, will be present.

For PiantaStorie in the green children’s area (via di Paterno 2/a Ponte Nuovo), Wednesday 15 May from 8.45pm to 10.30pm is scheduled… look at the moon, look at the stars. PiantaStorie is a place for reading, exchange and relationships, a privileged context where books and nature intertwine and this time they will do so under the stars. THE SHOWS

Sunday 12 May, at 4pm national premiere at the Funaro, in the “RI-belli Teatro Ragazzi” season (for families), Il piccolo di tutti, project by the Rodisio company, text and direction by Manuela Capece and Davide Doro, played by Davide Doro. The music
