Naples, degradation alarm in Piazza Garibaldi, residents and traders: “Interventions are urgently needed”

The pedestrian area of Garibaldi Squarea crucial point of access to the shopping arcade and the Garibaldi station of the metro line 1, complains of a sad state of abandonment and decay, despite having been built only a few years ago.

«We live here – says a resident of Garibaldi square – and we feel a feeling of degradation and insecurity. It is truly mortifying to see that a few years after the redevelopment we are in these conditions.”

The attached images show vandalized glass elevator housings, widespread dirt and even human excrement, generating a nauseating urine odor. This scenario, in addition to ruining the image of the area, raises concerns for residents and visitors.
