May 1st, Uil Abruzzo asks for more safety in the workplace – Notizie d’Abruzzo

“More safety in the workplace”, is the request that comes from Uil Abruzzo who this morning participated, together with Cgil Abruzzo Molise, in the May Day demonstration which took place in Giulianova.

After the procession that crossed via Matteotti, the union delegates intervened in Piazza della Libertà, reiterating the key concepts of the ongoing union initiatives, first of all that of safety in the workplace. A theme that the union has been pursuing for some time through the national “zero deaths at work” campaign, aimed at raising public awareness about safety at work. Which, according to the general secretary of Uil Abruzzo, Michele Lombardo “It is a real emergency in this country which has over 3 deaths a day. We need to intervene immediately. And not with spot decisions, like nautical murder. Yes to the points-based driving licence, but with real rules that make it afflictive and functional. We believe that the life of one person cannot be worth just 20 points and that the lives of several people, such as those torn from their families in the tragedies of Florence and Suviana, cannot be worth a total of just 20 points”.

The other requests that come from Giulianova’s stage are the reintroduction of the identification card for those entering production sites, to be able to verify the regularity of the employment relationship, the complete extension of the public procurement code to the private sector, the definition of the implementing decrees still missing from decree 81/2008, training for all workers, especially for those with precarious contracts.
