Open Dance 2024 with the performance of and with Sofia Galvan and Stefania Menestrina

Ototeman_what if by and with Sofia Galvan and Stefania Menestrina, the last two events scheduled as part of the first edition of the Open Dance 2024 review, a project for the emergence of contemporary dance, aimed at discovering young talents of art dance.

Open Dance, organized by the Teatro Pubblico Campano, a multidisciplinary circuit which includes dance programming among its activities, promoter of this project dedicated to young authorial dance, is intended to support and sustain the growth of young choreographers and talents emerging, create new opportunities and fuel creativity, contributing to the training of new dance generations.

The intent is to create a stronger and more cohesive artistic movement, while also initiating new approaches in interacting with dance audiences. through workshops, meetings with artists and participatory initiatives, which strengthen connections between artists, performers and spectators.

Ototeman_what if is halfway between a game and a ritual, a fictitious room where everything is possible, two souls closely linked to each other in the continuous search for a space to coexist. Ototeman is the term from which the word Totem derives.

The aim is to explore the most instinctive part of our being, including both body and mind. An ironic and carnal dance characterizes the relationship between these two bodies which find themselves in a common but foreign state, continuous and intermittent, balanced but unstable.

Shape-shifting images and figures are continually evoked which are the mirror of what being free means to them. The two figures have a fluid identity, they do not want to flatten their differences but rather make them live in union, merge them together, overlap them to create a more complex and aware entity, larger and stronger.

Ototeman_what if was born from a visceral need for lightness and personal freedom, a liberating ritual and a room that we hope everyone will find within themselves.

Presented by COB Compagnia Opus Ballet with the support of Scenario Pubblico Centro di Rilevante Intereste Nazionale, the production uses costumes by Francesca Perazzini and Elia Corradini. The project won the 13th edition of the international Prospettiva Danza Teatro Award
