“Ceramica in Festa” returns with Cna

by Elisa Fiorini

“Ceramica in Festa” returns to Ferrara, now in its 3rd edition after last year’s success. On the weekend between 18 and 19 May, in the splendid setting of Piazza Trento and Trieste, it will be possible to take part in many free and varied workshops that will allow young and old alike to learn to love the art of working with clay. “Ferrara is a city deeply linked to ceramics – explains Linda Veronese, head of Cna Artistic and Traditional of Ferrara – and after the success of the last edition this year we decided to do things big in our splendid square”.

“We have arranged for 10 people to participate in the workshop, so we plan to follow, over the course of the two days, more than 120 people – continues Veronese – given that we have planned a total of 6 workshops per day between the processing of clay, Raku technique and the demonstration of Este graffiti”. The event will also take place in case of bad weather, given that the structures where the activities will take place will be covered.

It will start at 10.30am on Saturday 18 May with the free Ri-trattani workshop and will end on Sunday 19 May at 6pm with the demonstration of Estense graffiti by master Franco Mazza. But there will be many activities available to users, with the “gem” at 11.30 on both days of the Raku technique laboratory (for a fee).

“This project deals above all with culture – continues Riccardo Biavati, president of Cna Ceramica – and is part of a broader panorama of cities which in these days will dedicate themselves to the same activities, even if I think that the free nature of almost all the workshops is a unique which only Ferrara, on this national occasion, will offer”.

“Make room for our artists, who are very good at highlighting local craftsmanship and consequently our beautiful city – says the councilor for productive activities of the Municipality of Ferrara Angela Travagli -, we would like to make Ferrara the capital of Italian ceramics because it has the potential to play the role of leader”. “Thanks to the artisans who will allow the curious to take part in these workshops, they will be the exaltation of the intelligence of the hands, a value that must be rediscovered by us” concludes Matteo Carion, director of Cna Ferrara.

The Faenza-based company Ceramic and Colors, specialized in products and accessories for artistic ceramics, will be a partner of the event and has made the clay available for the event.
