Closing the steps against aggressive tourism
Reinhold Messner had already proposed closing the Dolomite passes from 10am to 4pm to protect them from ‘aggressive’ tourism, thus returning the mountains to hikers and cyclists.
“It is unacceptable that in the mountains there is the same aggressiveness, the same noise, the same air pollution as in urban centres,” said Messner. “People come to us from the cities and find all this, only worse. It is madness”.
