Wednesday 1st May Savignano sul Rubicone will be the square of Work in Dance, party-concert for the 70th anniversary of “Romagna mia”, in the city that hosts the Secondo Casadei House Museum. For a whole day the center of Savignano sul Rubicone will be transformed into the farmyard of the past, with dancers, music and songs, good food, but also storytellers, characters and everything that made up a party, then just refreshment of the hard work in the fields.
May 1st in Savignano sul Rubicone will be a modern celebration, to celebrate the soundtrack that has always given the rural world the strength and intimate pride of daily commitment, becoming the whole of Romagna, both then and now of today, re-emerged from the flood to the sound of the notes of Secondo Casadei, father of smooth music. Work in dance is promoted by the Municipality of Savignano sul Rubicone, Edizioni Casadei Sonora and Mei, Meeting of independent labels. May Day in Savignano will be a great concert of the tradition of Romagna folklore, with guests the great orchestras of Moreno Il Biondo, Orchestrina di tanto Agevole, Gli Alluvionati del Liscio, who composed the anthem ‘Dai, dai Gresini’, for the Team Gresini of Moto Gp Faenza, which is touring the world, and the new Generation Z orchestra of Liscio Santa Balera, for the debut in the squares after the preview at the Sanremo Festival 2024 with 13 million and 500 thousand spectators in TV. With them the special guest Roberta Cappelletti.
We start at 6pm with the institutional greetings and the intervention of CGIL, CISL and UIL on the topics of health and safety at work, the topic of workers in the world of entertainment and precarious employment and the topic of Europe. The concerts will take place on the stage in Piazza Borghesi from 6pm to 10pm. The day will reserve a big surprise with the participation of the Very Agevole Orchestra, led by Enrico Gabrielli (musician and arranger, who was part of bands such as Mariposa, I Caliber 35, the Afterhours). The orchestra presents the new CD created together with Casadei Sonora, after the release of the single Martino cha cha cha. The concert party on May 1st will end, in the wake of Romagna folklore, with the great tradition of Moreno Il Biondo & Grande Evento, fresh from the positive experience as a resident band on Pascal Vicedomini’s Paradise program on Rai 2, with guest Roberta Cappelletti, the rock star of Romagna smooth music. Inevitable when the ballroom is played, the dancers of the Dancing Sirens of Rimini and the Italian Folk Group at the Casadei of Ravenna will perform during the afternoon. During the afternoon a trio of buskers will liven up Corso Vendemini with the Trio D’Archi by Rodolfo Santandrea, a singer-songwriter of the highest quality who won the Critics’ Award at the Sanremo Festival.
To enrich the Work in Dance program, a series of other events. Opening in the afternoon at 6pm, workers from the entertainment world will gather for a reflection on the interventions and reforms necessary for the development and growth of the sector. From 3.30pm Francesca Bagli and Claudia Morigi, teachers of the “Secondo Casadei” municipal music school, will involve the children in musical instrument making workshops and then try their hand at playing a piece together at the end of the workshop. At the same time some teachers will propose traditional music. It will be an opportunity to find information and suggestions for those wishing to undertake a course of study at the music school. The events will take place at the Pescheria Vecchia, home of the school, in Corso Vendemini 51. Not far away, the Cocs traders will offer the aperitif “1954, in the times of Secondo”, from 6.30 pm in Piazza Amati. Again to combine good food with good music, Piazza Borghesi will host refreshment points curated by Avis Comunale, Bar Mojito, Bar Galleria and Rosticceria del Corso.
The first day of May in Savignano sul Rubicone traditionally marks the beginning of Feast of Santa Croce in Borgo San Rocco of Savignano sul Rubicone which at 5pm will offer a performance, among others, by Denis Campitelli with the show “Il primo Secondo”. The story of the life and the first part of the career of the musician Secondo Casadei, from his first musical experiences, up to his definitive consecration, in 1954, the year in which he composed the famous waltz ‘Romagna mia’. In the background a peasant Romagna, possessed by the “dancing demon”. Not to be missed in Santa Croce are the historic charity fishing of Santa Croce, the impromptu performances of the painters of the Pescheria Vecchia, the street artists and the snack offered to all the children.
Entrance to the events is free. In case of bad weather the concerts will be held at the Cinema Teatro Moderno.
