The daughter’s alarm
This morning the daughter looked for her father, Pietro Delia, 66 years old, to go to work together. It was she who raised the alarm. The firefighters and the police found the two bodies lying on the floor in the kitchen. Laura Lupo, 62 years old, Palermo municipal police officer with gun in hand.
The apartment was tidy, nothing was out of place. The drama unfolded over the course of the night. The time will be established by the medical examiner who arrived on site. The couple has another son, who is away for work and is returning to Palermo. Laura Lupo served in the offices of the justice of the peace. Pietro Delia was an accountant and also worked on behalf of a bank.
Few doubts about the dynamics
The bodies of the couple were taken to the forensic medicine institute of the Polyclinic, where the autopsy will be carried out. At this moment, murder and suicide is the most probable hypothesis, even if the dynamics have yet to be fully clarified.
There is little doubt about what happened this morning between 6.30 and 7 in the apartment in via Notarbartolo in Palermo. It was at that moment that someone heard gunshots that broke the Saturday morning silence. The investigations are conducted by the carabinieri and the medical examiner intervened.
The two bodies of Laura Noto, a municipal police officer, and Pietro Delia, an accountant, were in the kitchen. From an initial reconstruction, the man was hit by four shots to the torso. The woman has two gunshot wounds to the head. The autopsy is scheduled for next week in the Forensic Medicine department of the Polyclinic where the bodies were transported.
CGIL: “a tragedy foretold”
The CGIL Public Function of the municipal police of Palermo expresses its condolences for the tragedy that occurred this morning in via Notarbartolo, sympathizing with the pain of the relatives of its municipal police colleague.
“The FP Cgil Palermo, which for some time had already raised various problems relating to the handling of weapons by workers in the sector – say Gianfabio Monacó, rsu, delegate of the FP Cgil, Luigi D’Antona, company manager and Saverio Cipriano, for the FP Cgil Palermo secretariat – reiterates that today’s events could be included among the so-called ‘announced tragedies’. The CGIL will present a detailed and documented complaint to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Palermo, so that the possible responsibilities of all the subjects who may have failed to apply the law and who could have averted today’s tragedy emerge”.
