Railway tourism, a workshop at the Metrocity with the Ferrovie in Calabria Association

The goal is to bring out ideas, ideas, projects and lines of intervention precise aims to promote synergies with associations, operators and stakeholders aimed at developing policies for the valorisation of the interested routes, supported by a tourism and marketing plan metropolitan even more effective.

On the occasion of National Wonderful Railways Day, the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria, in collaboration with the Association “Railways in Calabria”, organized the Workshop on “Railway Tourism and Soft Mobility in Calabria. Best practices and development proposals”.

The workshop took place at the SGilda Trisolini Library wing of Palazzo Alvaro and developed a comparison by articulating reflections on the topic of railway tourism and tourist railways in our territory. The expressed objective of the event was to encourage networking between institutions, local authorities and operators in the tourism sector in order to develop proposals to strengthen existing projects and new ideas related to soft and alternative mobility; as well as that of increasing the tourist offer by offering visitors the opportunity to experience the peculiarities and uniqueness of the cultural and naturalistic heritage of the metropolitan area in an even more immersive way.

Comparison, therefore, necessary to bring out ideas, ideas, projects and precise lines of intervention aimed at promoting synergies with associations, operators and stakeholders aimed at developing policies for the valorisation of the paths involved, supported by a even more effective metropolitan tourism and marketing plan.

The event is part of the “Travel by train, discover Calabria” project, which the “Ferrovie in Calabria” Association promotes in collaboration with the Business Division of Trenitalia Calabria and sponsored by the FS Foundation.

The proceedings, moderated by the journalist Franco Laratta, they were opened by Anna Donati, Spokesperson for A.Mo.Do. “Sweet Mobility Alliance”, e Alberto Sgarbi, President of the Italian Federation of Tourist and Museum Railways.

The workshop, in a second session, also proposed a focus on “Tourist routes by train, a journey between history and innovation” and “Rediscovering the territory through Soft Mobility”.

Representing Palazzo Alvaro, in his capacity as delegate for Tourism and the Budget, present was the Metropolitan Councillor, as well as Mayor of Palmi, Giuseppe Ranuccio who warmly welcomed the initiative, considering it fundamental for developing the necessary and concrete collaborations between institutions and any other actor subject involved.

Ranuccio, in particular, declared the full support from the Metropolitan City for the soft, ecological and cultural tourism model, fully convinced that this is the right path for a harmonious and qualitative development of the metropolitan territory.

The objective is to network with the associations, entrepreneurs, institutions and all the administrations involved to give full implementation to that tourist and cultural vision that is specific to the metropolitan territory, to be concretely achieved also in light of the expected transfer of functions by the Calabria Region”.
