Radiotherapy in Trapani will find financial coverage for part in the extraordinary program of public investments in healthcare pursuant to article 20 (L. 67/88) and in the budget of the Asp. The news emerged today in the EU Commission, during the hearing on the planning and implementation of the PNRR for healthcare interventions in Sicily. The 5 Star MP Cristina Ciminnisi stated in this regard: «However, there is no good news for the new hospital in Alcamo, which had been at the center of the debate of an extraordinary municipal council last March 25, for which what we already feared emerged: there is no coverage for the intervention which requires an investment of over 30 million euros”.

«If on the one hand the news of radiotherapy does justice to the citizens of the Trapani area who have been waiting for this important health service for 15 years – says Ciminnisi –, on the other hand we cannot help but express concern about the cut of over 139 million euros to Sicilian healthcare ordered by the National Government as part of an overall reduction of over a billion euros on the PNRR. Minister Fitto and the Meloni Government go straight with confidence blows and bring down a real ax on the health of Sicilians.” «Some worries – concludes the deputy from Trapani – remains with respect to the implementation times and the next steps for radiotherapy in Trapani. By 2025, according to the general direction of strategic planning of the Region, we should see the opening of the construction site. Our attention remains on radiotherapy, on the next steps and on the procedures, so that the times envisaged today by the commission are respected”.

“An important step forward for Trapani healthcare thanks to the commitment of the Schifani government. Finally, after years of waiting, Trapani will have access to radiotherapy directly in the area. The project, recognized as among the best in the sector, was entirely financed with a budget of 10 million euros. But the good news doesn’t end there: the procurement procedure is at an advanced stage, with the works expected to be delivered by September 2025″says Giuseppe Bica, regional deputy of Fratelli d’Italia, after a hearing on the planning and implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) for health interventions in Sicily, held at the EU Commission. Pin parallel with the approval of the project for Trapani, attention is focused on the new hospital in Alcamo.
As regards Alcamo, the government is aware of the need for partial financial coverage for the hospital project. Currently, the regional budget is being evaluated to identify the best options. Among these, the possibility of building the hospital in functional phases is also being considered, to guarantee a timely and efficient solution” – so continues Bica. “I will continue to closely monitor progress and act with determination to ensure that the area’s health needs are met” – thus concludes Giuseppe Bica, regional deputy.
