“Sixtema, asked for a discussion on layoffs”

Activation of conciliation processes for all workers subject to dismissal and guarantee of the company continuing its growth in the Modena area, also with new investments. This is what emerged from a confrontation, wanted by the Municipality of Modena, between the Sixtema company and the unions, following the dismissal of seven workers from the Modena, Florence and Ancona offices.

The councilor for employment policies and legality Andrea Bosi explained this to the city council in Thursday’s session, responding to the question from the Democratic Party. The request asked, in particular, for an update on any actions taken by the Administration in response to the dismissal of seven workers “due to job suppression” communicated last January by the top management of Sixtema, an IT services company with multiple offices in the national territory; communication took place through a letter and therefore without any preliminary union interlocution, as happened in the past.

Bosi explained that already at the beginning of February, after a discussion with a delegate from Filcams Cgil of Modena and with the CEO of Sixtema, the Municipality took action to convene an institutional discussion table between the company and the unions, which was then held on March 5. During a long discussion, the councilor specified, in which the unusual method of communicating the dismissal was highlighted, the need emerged to proceed with conciliation processes for all the workers affected by the measure, with the company’s guarantee of not to give up the commitment to growth in the Modena area but, on the contrary, to confirm new investments for its development path.
