Puglia Region, ‘anticipate work against Xylella’

The Phytosanitary Observatory of the Puglia Region, for the containment and contrast of the spread of vector of Xylella (spittle).
“The current climate trend – they explain from the Region – has brought forward the life cycle of the vector which is currently in the fourth juvenile stage, the optimal time to intervene with mechanical tillage of the land. There are 21 municipalities affected by the obligation, including Santeramo in Colle, where an outbreak of Xylella fastidiosa subspecies multiplex ST26 was recently identified on two almond trees. The agronomic practices must be carried out by the owners and managers of agricultural land, competent public and private subjects, even on uncultivated agricultural surfaces, in public green areas, roadsides, canals and state-owned surfaces.
