Rugby Carpi’s first historic season in the Serie C Promozione championship ends with a defeat on the Cus Ferrara pitch. The final 49-18 tells of a less one-sided match than the score suggests, with the Falcons protagonists of a dignified performance against the fourth-placed team in the group.

Carpi started strong and Catellani opened the scoring with a free kick, but the Ferrarese reacted immediately with two tries. The Falcons respond with another free kick from Catellani and a nice three-quarter attack, with Di Rosa accelerating into space, splitting the opposing defense and providing the assist for Catellani who brings Carpi back 14-13 before making it 21-13 Este at the end of the first half.

In the second half Carpi skids again, then a long gallop from Di Rosa serves to support Pettenati, who accelerates passing the ball to Martinelli who combines with Catellani for another try for the fly-half. However, the end was all home, with the Falcons sinking and losing 49-18. Coach Ivanciuc’s Carpi thus ends its first year in Serie C Promozione with an excellent sixth place which is a good omen for the future.
