The community that grows, Piccola Artemisia meets the territory (Childhood and adolescence mental health of Lucca) with building bricks

The volunteers of the social promotion association (APS) Heart4Children and the Municipality of Capannori with “Piccola Artemisia” created a workshop with building bricks in the headquarters of the Lucca childhood and adolescence mental health functional unit of the USL Toscana nord company west with some children (accompanied by their parents) in the care of the facility.

Present at the initiative, much appreciated by parents, were Dr. Anna Belmonte (head of UFSMIA) and some rehabilitation workers (speech therapists, FKT, TNPEE and educators) who accompany these children in their therapeutic-rehabilitation journey.

The initiative, which promises to be only the first of many activities that will take place in the coming months, is part of a collaboration signed in December 2023 through an agreement between the Municipality of Capannori and Heart4Children APS – which is a partner of the LEGO® group – for the creation of training-workshop activities dedicated to children and teenagers within the “Piccola Artemisia” family centre. In fact, the use of construction games is envisaged to strengthen intelligence and skills.

This collaboration was made possible by the zonal training course financed by the PEZ (Zonal Educational Projects) of the Tuscany Region, thus offering the opportunity to dozens of educators to receive specific training of a high scientific level to introduce them into the educational realities of the territory of Capannore the workshops and activities coordinated by the Heart4Children association and by Professor Daniela Lucangeli to promote the different intelligences in children and adolescents through the powerful medium of play (Learning through play) and to provide a creative experience using the brick as a means to approach contemporary art.
