“The citizen movement linked to our sport has participated regularly and uninterruptedly for over thirty-five years in the national championships organized by the Italian Baseball and Softball Federation.

Unfortunately, as is well known, Brescia no longer has a baseball field and for five years we have been forced to make real “flips” to continue our activity.

Among the imaginable thousand difficulties and thanks to the active collaboration of the local Municipal Administration we managed to restore the abandoned softball field of Marcheno (a village in Valtrompia about 30 km from Brescia) so that we could at least play the home games of the minibaseball teams there , under 12 and Serie B softball.

In 2023, given the small size of the facility, the under-14, under-15, under-18 and Serie A baseball teams played their respective championships entirely away (as already done in 2020, 2021 and 2022). There are now well over 330 consecutive matches played outside our Municipality by our teams.

The training sessions of all the teams were instead concentrated on a field hockey field which, obviously not being suitable for our sport, severely limits the carrying out of correct practices.

In 2023, seven teams from Brescia participated in the respective championships (increasing compared to the previous year): Serie A, under 18, under 15, under 14, under 12 categories, minibaseball, softball, Serie B, involving over 120 in total people including athletes, technicians and managers.

It is worth remembering that the excellent work carried out in over 30 years of activity has led us to participate in the ninth consecutive Serie A championship, the top division of Italian baseball, in 2023; Serie A won in 2014 with a team made up entirely of athletes from Brescia (except one) and technicians from our city. An exceptional result, therefore, the result of work lasting over 14 years.

Unfortunately the 2023 championship ended with the relegation of the first team. The absence of a baseball field for five years now is weighing heavily and has certainly had a decisive role in last year’s results.

The senior team represents only the most visible aspect of the entire Brescia baseball movement; every year hundreds of children try our sport thanks to various projects that we have been offering for some time in many city schools and to the municipal courses in which we regularly participate.

There were many of our young people who had the honor of wearing the uniform of the Italian national team.

Brescia certainly represents one of the main Lombardy realities of our sport, despite not having a baseball field.

While the national senior baseball championship is naturally national in scope, those of the youth categories are predominantly regional in scope.

The desire of the municipal administration and the Lombardy Region to find a permanent accommodation for our numerous members and not to disperse a thirty-year-old sporting heritage seems to have materialized in the identification of an area that could host the only baseball facility in Brescia and its province .

The identified area is located in the southern area of ​​Brescia extremely close to a metro station. An area that would also allow for future development as it could potentially also host a softball field for the activities of girls and younger athletes.

Brescia baseball and softball have been facing this absurd situation for five years now, making unimaginable economic, organizational and logistical efforts. We therefore trust that the Territorial Authorities will finally be able to reach a unity of purpose and want to create the only baseball facility in Brescia and its province which would guarantee the survival of our consolidated and deep-rooted realities.

Realities that have amply demonstrated that they can achieve top-level sporting results!”.
