“The numbers of doctors and staff are growing”

Twenty-five more doctors than in 2019, 49 more if the comparison is with 2021. “And with the intention of making further additions”, says the director of Ulss 5 Polesana Pietro Girardi. Which runs through a long table, citing data by data: the overall workforce of the healthcare company has increased, in these five years, from 2,939 to 3,376 employees; the nursing staff grew by 141 units, the OSS by 30, the administrative staff by 34. And so on, item by item.

In short, he concludes, “The staff has been progressively increased both to fill absences in hospital departments and to implement those new functions foreseen by the programming. In almost all qualifications – Girardi continues – the expected staffing is respected, also thanks to external contracts if the professional skills (especially medical ones) are not easily available on the job market”.

Girardi’s reply comes promptly after the FP-Cgil had shouted alarm this morning, defining the healthcare situation as “seriously lacking” from a staff point of view.

“But the data – says Girardi – disavows the union. The organic plants of each individual qualification have grown over the years, and we plan to increase them further. Anyone who says otherwise loses credibility, and will take responsibility for it.”
