On the weekend the Trieste Spring Run

We have entered the week of the Trieste Spring Run 2024, the event (organised by the APD Miramar with the collaboration of the Asd Trieste Atletica Aps, the co-organization of the Municipality of Trieste and the patronage of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region) which is already giving the whole city, without excluding anyone, a 360° sporting event in the name of inclusion, sports education, attention to current events with concrete actions, contamination between sport and culture and constant presence in the daily life of the city.

This morning, at the stand in Piazza della Borsa, the press conference “The Trieste Spring Run is not just sport” was held, in which in addition to the interventions of the institutions and organizers, the public present was able to listen to the words of those who are protagonists of the collateral events of the Trieste Spring Run. The president of the ASD Trieste Atletica Aps Pompeo Tria and Francesca Stefani, member of the organizing committee of the APD Miramar, gave voice to the organizing committee. “This event is the result of teamwork, in which the authorities play a fundamental role, supporting us in these days but finalizing work that lasts an entire sporting season. A round of applause goes to all the volunteers and collaborators who put on such important and heartfelt events. This sporting spring, full of satisfactions for our colours, gives us the push to improve more and more and build new projects, capable of integrating the solid foundations already built. We are talking about an event that has the peculiarity of not excluding anyone, embracing everyone and providing strong emotions.” Francesca Stefani wanted to underline the ability of the Trieste Spring Run to “harmoniously combine athletics, cycling, art, Nordic walking (protagonist on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 May with a very rich programme), just to mention some of the themes offered in intergenerational formats and suitable for everyone. I would like to reaffirm the solidarity identity of an event which on Sunday 5 May will propose the unprecedented solidarity relay, branded Dynamo Campo, one of the two Charity Partners together with the Bambini del Danubio Onlus. Not to forget the Wings for Life relay which will close the Trieste Spring Run on Sunday 5 May and will run all over the world (https://www.wingsforlifeworldrun.com/it) “

The list of interventions was opened by the Councilor of the Municipality of Trieste for Real Estate Policies and Sport Elisa Lodi: “We are particularly satisfied to be alongside sporting events, such as the Trieste Spring Run, which has entered the heart of the citizenship by proposing an event that leaves no one behind, proposing sporting opportunities for everyone and enhancing the tourist vocation of our city, between already known places and areas, such as the renewed one of Porto Vivo, which, thanks to the commitment of our institution, will still give greater prestige to our territory”. “Believing strongly in sport as an ideal tool to strongly cultivate the values of integration and inclusion, as an administration we cannot fail to be at the side of such an event”, added the Councilor for Social Policies of the Municipality of Trieste Massimo Tognolli. “The Trieste Spring Run, and even before that the Bavisela, has never been just about sport. Communication, promotion and letting people from Trieste and beyond experience the city, these are just some of the distinctive features of an event that has entered the DNA of the citizens. The regional administration supports with patronage and contributions – the Councilor for Local Autonomy, Public Function, Security and Immigration of the FriuliVenezia Giulia Region Pierpaolo Roberti wanted to underline the concept – a fundamental event as a tourist vehicle for the city. I would also like to thank the great work that all the volunteers will do to give participants and curious people the opportunity to experience an unforgettable Sunday.”

The Trieste Spring Run will open on Thursday 2 May, from 10:00 in Piazza Unità, with the energy and enthusiasm of the over 2000 participants, coming from nursery and primary schools in Trieste and surrounding areas, of the Trieste Spring Young. Present in Piazza della Borsa was the General Secretary of the CRTrieste Foundation, Dr. Paolo Santangelo: “As the CRTrieste Foundation, we have supported the Trieste Spring Run since its inception because we strongly believe in the educational value of sport. It’s part of our mission to bring collaborations and events like this to life.”

The protagonist of this presentation was once again Giorgia Marchi, the testimonial of the Trieste Spring Run 2024, fresh from the European Paralympic swimming championships. In Madeira (Portugal), the champion from Trieste, who turned 23 today, took bronze in the 100m breaststroke, becoming the first Italian swimmer in the S14 category to collect a continental medal: “I’ve already set off again at a high pace with training to work as hard as possible and try to change the color of that medal soon. I want to continue to cultivate hopes of participating in the next Paralympics and above all I hope that my actions can inspire other boys and girls with disabilities to achieve their personal goals.” Alongside Giorgia was the Delegate of the CIP (Italian Paralympic Committee) provincial of Trieste Marta Zanetti, “The choice of Giorgia as testimonial of the Trieste Spring Run demonstrates how Paralympic sport and sport dedicated to able-bodied people can and must dialogue. Giorgia’s involvement certifies how important events watch and understand the importance of sending such strong messages of sporting inclusion”.

Trieste Spring Run is also synonymous with Trieste Spring Art, the format that aims to give voice to artistic talent, among established artists and talented students. The person who joined the Trieste Spring Art with great enthusiasm was undoubtedly Acegas Aps Amga, who will propose, with the precious action of the well-known Trieste illustrator Jan Sedmak, a new work of art (inauguration set for 4.30 pm on Thursday 2 May in the Expo Village in Piazza Unità. It is truly a pleasure – explains Acegas ApsAmga Head of Communication and Stakeholder Relations Luciana De Mori – to be here to confirm our collaboration, not only with the services dedicated to waste and separate waste collection, but with active participation in the Trieste Spring Art. We will offer citizens the opportunity to be part of a collaborative work of art, which will take shape and colors only with the contribution of curious people and participants in the Trieste Spring Run through some nice and ironic response to questions about separate waste collection”. Sedmak added: “I’ll be waiting for you on Thursday where the identity of this work will be revealed, which aims to embrace three themes: recycling, the spirit of inclusive travel and the valorisation of the Trieste area. ”.

Among the protagonists of the Trieste Spring Art there is also the United World College of the Adriatic ONLUS represented by the Director of Communications Marta Zanetti: “We welcomed with great enthusiasm the invitation to take part in an event that cultivates values such as the valorisation of differences and integration, the main basis of our training projects”.
