In recent days in Cosenza a tragedy was avoided at the Annunziata civil hospital thanks to the prompt reaction of a police officer. A thirty-year-old woman was about to make an extreme gesture, attempting suicide by throwing herself from a railing near the hospital canteen.

But a few days later we receive and publish a letter from a citizen Oscar Marincolowho he claims that he was the one who saved the woman.

“I would like to clarify how the events happened – writes Marincolo – not because I want to take credit for them but because for personal ethics it is right to always tell the truth. It was around 1.30pm, I was about to finish my work shift and I found myself with some colleagues outside the COOPSERVICE offices starting work, when I raised my head and saw a lady who was balancing on a ledge above the building, I started talking to her without a single moment’s thought , she was out of her mind, I told her that I would take her to eat an ice cream, I managed to calm her down and she gave me her hand and I grabbed her with the other. Once I gained her trust, Marincolo’s story continues – I managed to push her away from the ledge and carry her safely (all this by the lady and I alone. In the meantime, following a phone call, my wife arrived with three doctors from the department where she works daily, and who had to start their work shift shortly). . They ran immediately, helping me get the lady over the railing. Relieved from the fear that the lady could carry out the crazy gesture – concludes Marincolo – I moved away and entrusted her to the health workers who intervened on site, who with my wife, and escorted by a security guard took her to the emergency room”.
