Yamaha’s response to disappointing MotoGP results continues to be evident for Fabio Quartararo. On Monday’s test day in Jerez, the rider was able to test several innovations on the YZR-M1. He completed 85 laps and placed 18th in the time charts.

The Monster Energy Yamaha rider commented: ‘It’s been a long day. We tested many things, in particular a new frame, new aerodynamic solutions, a new swingarm, electronics. It is difficult to draw a conclusion at this moment, of course now we will have to analyze carefully. There are some positives, there are some things that unfortunately don’t work. But we will have more tests in Mugello after Le Mans. So these are things we can tweak and see what we can improve‘.

When questioned about the new screen he tested, Quartararo mentioned that he had not felt any improvements or worsening: ‘It’s a different feeling, neither worse nor better for me at the moment. But sometimes there are some things about the acceleration that I can’t perceive, but on the data you can see it. But on my first impression it was neutral‘.

«El Diablo» also revealed that he had a bike with considerable changes, appearing satisfied with Yamaha’s work: ‘It’s the first time we’ve just tested something new, it’s not like slightly different. The new frame we tested is really different. In the past we were used to testing something different, but only slightly. And now it’s been a massive change for me to feel what’s on the bike. I think this is already a first step for us to understand what the right path is, but I think now we need to do the test to see clearly and have ideas‘.
