Vicenza coach Stefano Vecchi was a guest on the program “Rigoramente calcio” broadcast on TV Vicenza and these are some of his statements: “The postponement of the playoffs?
It’s the same situation for everyone, we’ve changed next week’s program but it doesn’t change much. It would be better for the image of Serie C if these things didn’t happen given that we were veterans from last year but then we fell back.
Yesterday’s comeback?
It happened to us that we went behind a few times, let’s say that we were aware that matches can be recovered in the 90th minute, we have a competitive group thanks also to the boys who play less, yesterday was a special match.
Busato’s goal?
Both he and Conzato train with us often, the former has had two major injuries in recent years, the latter is growing greatly and is making himself stand out with the goals he is scoring in the Under 17s.
The most difficult moment of these months?
The defeat in Lumezzane because despite having played a good match we were aware of the negative environment in which the performance was not judged but the result, we were good at taking a positive path, then it was the only negative result of our parenthesis, However, I say that I didn’t like the negative interpretation of the defeat even though I understand that it came from a difficult moment. My staff and I were good at going straight on our path.
Negative reading by whom?
In general, we had just come back from a difficult moment, it seemed like we had gone back. From then on we also acquired credits from the players because we didn’t pay attention to the result but only to the work.
What will you work on now?
Before there was a need to reconstruct the psychological part, it was not possible that some players expressed themselves in that way, now we are seeing who they really are. From a tactical point of view we made an attacking midfielder coexist with the two strikers and we maintained a very good solidity, I am pleased to highlight the results because we are complaining about some points that allowed us to be the best thirds.
The maturity of the team?
We have made an important journey and the feeling of strength comes when not everyone is 100% and despite everything “you are strong”. I say that I fear randomness because if the matches go as they should go we are a strong team and it was seen when we weren’t great but we brought home important results.
The match with Pro Sesto?
It was played badly due to the conditions of the pitch, then we played 30 minutes and we had the signs that we weren’t good but we took home the skin
The public?
It really gives us goosebumps, it really deserves a lot and what the team is doing, then it rightly puts some pressure on us and forces us to give something more, I liked seeing the team rejoice under the South, while when we arrived they were a bit contested: together, we and the public, we are stronger.
The cure for Ronaldo and Ferrari?
My staff and I were close to them, I think I conveyed confidence in their abilities and quality, by playing against them I hoped to be able to train them, I was close to Ferrari when he missed two penalties and we had the dispute under the Curva, if we want to win the championship we can’t do it without Ferrari and Ronaldo
When did you see the team’s potential?
I knew him from the beginning, the difficulty was getting him out, together with my staff and the club, which operated correctly in the January transfer window, we managed to create an environment where we work well

We also have some young players who can grow a lot. If I were a fan I would like to see the sweaty shirt, then you can’t blame yourself for anything

How much desire do you have to redeem yourself and prove that you can do B?
So much so because I demonstrated that I achieved results in C while in B I had too many setbacks and it would be nice to get there with Vicenza and then stay there

Will there be anything new for the playoffs?
Initially the idea is to give continuity to the 13-14 players most involved, however the playoffs present important critical issues and the whole group is needed, yesterday we tested the whole group and we know that if there is a need they will respond immediately.
Is it better to think about a round trip or a single match?
I think you have to play one half at a time without making mistakes or at least to the maximum because all it takes is one bad half or some naivety and you risk compromising everything. I say this because two years ago in Salò we stopped in the semi-final in Palermo by making a mistake in the first half of the first leg and there we played the final, for this reason I say one time at a time convinced and sure of being an important team: this it can lead to the end
The upcoming winter transfer market?
It was very decisive, credit must be given to the club because deciding to release players while also putting money on the table is not an easy choice, the club must be given credit for having made an effort and for having created a more compact and functional group
Who can be decisive?
I would like to criticize myself for not having yet been able to bring out Pellegrini’s qualities: I hope to see his potential and that he will let us win

The other day there were some fines to pay for expulsions and the boys organized a lunch with their families and children, there was a nice atmosphere and a nice group, a nice sign of a group that is well together
