First May in music, the Mercanti di Liquore will perform in Aosta

Two marching band who will cross the streets of the historic center of Aosta, starting from opposite poles, and a double concert in Piazza Chanoux which will see as protagonists the Liquor Merchantsthe historic Lombard group – reformed in 2021 – born by revisiting the songs of Fabrizio De Andréwhose name itself is an explicit declaration of love for the great Genoese singer-songwriter.

These are the “ingredients” of First of May of the capital, presented today at a press conference. Starting from 5.30pmfrom Piazza della Repubblica, the traveling exhibition of the street band of the Sfom.

The other performance will start from the Arch of Augustus marching bandthe Fantomatik Orchestraborn in Tuscany just over thirty years ago and become a real one street band at the beginning of 2000. After a “sound tour” through the streets of the city, the two groups will then meet again Chanoux square where they will perform together while waiting for the two concerts in the “living room” of Aosta.

Here, on a specially set up stage, he will play first the Jazz Sfom Orchestra – driven by Manuel Pramotton – that together with the group Sarayeye will revive the atmosphere of Aosta Cuban Santeria thanks also to the guest of honor Luca Brandolitransplanted to the island for forty years.

To follow i Liquor Merchantsled by Lorenzo Monguzziwhich will retrace – and rearrange – the history of Italian songwriting, starting from De André and passing through other greats of Italian music such as Luigi Tenco, Piero Ciampi, Claudio Lolli, Sergio Endrigo and among the original compositions of the Lombard group, which oscillate between folk And pop.

“We have chosen contents that sboth the philosophy of May Day and that of Sfom pose – said the school coordinator Henry Montrosset –. There is, on the one hand, the social and inclusion inspiration that the day has and brings with it, a principle that Sfom espouses firstalso being able to ‘ground’ a whole part of the activities and training of our teaching right in the street band”.

“Every year, Sfom identify a theme to work on, a flagship theme that ‘curves’ the laboratory activities of the school year – he added -. This year we thought of a slightly ‘lateral’, less noble theme it has to do with the roador rather, on its relationship with music”.

About the project Searching Cubamanager Marco Giovinazzo he explained: “Last year the experiment, which was successful, was to invite a non-local group that could also represent May Day, and a local artistic and cultural reality which this year is represented by Sfom. This allows both to make local production known, but also to bring school students together with other realities”.
