CATANIA – As part of the activities aimed at preventing and combating widespread crime and any form of illegality, the agents of the Borgo Ognina police station have reported two individuals caught while illegally carrying out the activity of parking attendants and violating the prevention measure issued by the Catania Police Commissioner regarding the ban on approaching urban areas.
Illegal parkers targeted by officers
The first, a 77 year old manwas surprised back in Tricolore square while assisting a motorist in parking on the public road. The parking attendant, already subjected to a ban on approaching the urban center in which he usually carried out his activity, was taken to the police station and investigated for the unauthorized exercise of the profession and for the violation of the prevention measure.
A similar situation also involved the other subject, a 58 year old man, surprised also while carrying out the activity of valet abusive in via Vagliasindi. After identification, he was taken to the police station and investigated for repeated incidents of illegal parking and violation of the prevention measure.
During the service, a motorist was fined in Piazza Tricolore for parking his Ferrari on a pedestrian crossingobstructing the passage of pedestrians.
Furthermore, in via Turinduring a territory check, a young suspect was found in possession of marijuana and a sum of 250 euros, presumably proceeds of drug dealing. The young man, unemployed and unable to explain the source of the money, was investigated for possession for the purpose of trafficking of narcotic substances.
Roadside checks
Finally, in collaboration with the PAS, the Eastern Sicily Crime Prevention Department, they were carried out controls extraordinary in the areas of Fasano, Barrier And Canalicchioresulting in the verification of 116 people and 55 vehicleswith different sanctions for traffic violations, including lack of insurance, driving without a helmet and driving with an expired license.
Also an kiosk bara center betting it’s a restaurant in Piazza Mancini Battaglia were checked, without detecting hygiene violations but with the absence of staff training certificates. The owner of the restaurant was investigated for workplace safety violations.
Car receiving
The agents of the Flying Squad of the Catania Police Headquarters were sent instead via Casello in response to report of a vehicle stolen.
When they arrived at the scene, they noticed the car parked along the road, but with a man inside. After stopping him, they proceeded with identification. It was about a 44 year old man resident in Cataniawith specific precedents linked to property crimes.
At the end of the standard procedures, the man was investigated at large for the crime of receiving stolen goods.
As for the car, it was returned to the owner, who was tracked down and went to the police station to formalize the complaint.
