Rapid United, the Fairplay award arrives at the Adriatic Tournament in Rimini

Four days of tournament in that heartfelt place that is Rimini, home in general of summer fun but home for the Easter weekend of the Adriatic Tournament. The tournament, one of the largest in terms of numbers in Europe, saw 256 teams compete in the various categories. Excellent showcase of the football of the future, a place of challenge yes, but also of exchange of knowledge and dialogue. A unique experience.

In this experience, this year the young and sparkling football of Rapid United found itself. The Sports Director, who told us about the tournament, Jonathan Selmini, the man from Rapid who strongly wanted him. “No, it’s not really easy to describe the thousand emotions that dominated us in this 4-day tournament. We wanted to give the kids new experiences, and together with the others we carefully evaluated the national and international proposals for the growth of the kids coached by Mister Davide Scaiola, Dario Badalotti and the goalkeeper coach Gabriele Raschi. We identified the Rimini tournament as ideal for what we had in mind, it was proposed to the children and parents who enthusiastically joined“.

In the draw, Rapid United, a small club with big ambitions, finds itself in an iron group, finding great realities in national and international football. Also in the group are Germans of the same age from Stuttgart. The football results, some less so, are always accompanied by good performances of character from the young athletes who demonstrate a great spirit of sacrifice and unity as a group, equalizing with willpower and heart, the technical-tactical differences of some opponents .

“Everything was organized down to the smallest detail, from the hotel to the complete disposal of the players for the evening meetings, from the breakfasts, lunches and dinners outside pre-established hours to facilitate the group in carrying out the tournament. The atmosphere that prevailed was precisely that of great occasions, with a WhatsApp group dedicated solely and exclusively to the dissemination of information and a lot of attention for them”

The most enthusiastic and successful? The fans in the stands: “Everyone sang and cheered on their teams with great enthusiasm, but when Rapid United took to the field, the chants became louder, the hugs bonded the group as if it were one with the team…“.

Many small, great satisfactions and many small, great attentions for them. But, what is even more important, together with them. Athletes, parents, fans. Rapid United will grow, and the kids will grow with the team. In the meantime, however, Mister Scaiola’s boys have gained a very small and great satisfaction. And, if you think about it in the times we live in, it’s not a small satisfaction either. The Fair Play award for excellent behavior on the pitch.

“For us – concludes Gionata Selmini – Before being good sportsmen you are above all excellent people, ours is an environment where importance is given to sporting growth but above all to the training of the person with a sense of responsibility. Concentration is always high. When the coaches talk to the kids, there is always maximum attention and the results are visible! Rapid United is and must be above all this: a large family where everyone finds the space to demonstrate that in addition to being good sportsmen they are above all excellent people, an environment where importance is given to sporting growth but above all to the formation of the person with a sense of responsibility“.

Rivarolo Mantovano and his Rapid have left something, a small mark in Rimini too. But the footballers brought home a small life lesson to this land that sees them looking towards the future. That you can be men and go with your head held high beyond even the important result. The first important result is the one that matures inside and the impression is that this Rapid is on the right track. And that we will hear more about this Rapid United in the future…
