L’AQUILA – The positive administrative result in the management of the accounts of the Municipality of L’Aquila for the year 2023 exceeds 23 million and 400 thousand euros. The data is contained in the (final) statement relating to the past year, approved this morning by the Town Council.

The measure obtained 19 votes in favor (Fdi, L’Aquila Futura, Forza Italia, Civici e Indipendenti per Biondi mayor, Udc, Lega) and 9 against (Pd, L’Aquila Coraggiosa, L’Aquila Nuova, Il Passopossible) .

Illustrating the provision in the Chamber, the councilor for economic, financial and budgetary policies, the deputy mayor Raffaele Daniele, pointed out that the 2023 result exceeds that of 2022 by 3 million 800 thousand euros. Of the administration surplus in question, just over 17 million euros have been tied up and set aside, mostly for risk funds and doubtful loans collectability, while the available portion has been set at over 6 million euros, compared to approximately 3 million and 600 thousand euros in 2022.

With an amendment presented by the mayor Pierluigi Biondi, and voted unanimously by the Council, 4 million euros of the available administrative surplus will be used to replace the supporting cables of the Gran Sasso cable car. Last year’s confirmed revenue exceeded 322 million euros.

“The report approved today – comments Deputy Mayor Daniele in a note – is tangible evidence of how healthy the Municipality’s accounts are. The management we have adopted in recent years has been characterized by prudence and rationalization of spending, as well as aimed at encouraging possible, defined investments with an effective advantage for the community. All this, thanks to the ability to intercept funds and financing that have opened and open the way to interventions aimed at the rebirth and development of the territory, which are there for all to see”.

Previously the municipal council had approved the 2023 report of the Elderly Service Center Institution, illustrated in the Chamber by the councilor for social policies, Manuela Tursini, with which an administrative surplus of approximately 4 million and 600 thousand euros was ascertained.

The green light is also given to the accounting agents’ accounts and the inventories of movable and immovable property. This last provision, presented to the Council by the councilor for Heritage Maintenance and Enhancement, Vito Colonna, contemplated, in 2023, new acquisitions for a value of 5 million and 800 thousand euros, while the procedures for transforming the surface right into property were 13, which resulted in an entry into the municipal coffers of almost one million euros.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Council unanimously approved the award of honorary citizenship to the Italian Red Cross.
