“We wanted direct salvation. Playout disappointment for us”

Samuele Bonaccorsidefender of Novara, spoke on the ‘Azzurri in radio’ program talking about the sensations he experienced on the last day, which decreed the victory over Fiorenzuola, but also the obligation to play in the playouts for the Piedmontese against the Emilians. His words were echoed by his ForzaNovara colleagues: “Last Sunday we agreed with the bench that they would not communicate the results from the other fields to us. But from the noise of the crowd we realized at the beginning of the second half that no more good news was coming… First our people had been fantastic, they had pushed us towards the goal of the lead and then towards the double.”

“Our objective has always been that of direct salvation – continued the defender – we believed in it, due to the value of the squad and the points scored in the second round. So going to the playouts was a disappointment for us. Now we start again with the advantage of returning home to exploit.”

At Novara, however, we are now working peacefully: “We don’t particularly feel the tension because we are a young group and even the more experienced players are good at not making us feel the pressure.” This obviously does not mean underestimating the opponent: “Fiorenzuola is not the team we saw on Sunday. In the opening minutes they moved the ball well, confirming that they have the qualities. The points won in the second round confirm this. We will have to be good at limiting their sources of play.”
