Rondinelle are now expected by five teams in the bottom six of the table. Maran’s men are the only ones who do not have direct clashes

Brescia. With five days to go in the championship, the playoff sprint is more underway than ever. Brescia’s defeat in Venice made several teams happy (above all Pisa and Sudtirol, who recovered three points at the Rondinelle), but Maran’s men still lead the special ranking of seven teams which are divided into six points to five days to go, with two places up for grabs.

From the 45 points of the blue and whites to the 39 of Modena, passing through the 44 of Sampdoria, the 43 of Pisa and Cittadella, the 42 of Sudtirol and the 40 of Reggiana, everyone can still dream. Brescia starts in pole position and is the only team that will not have direct clashes. Bisoli and his teammates will face five of the last six teams in the table: the next two matches will be at Rigamonti with Ternana (safe today and fresh from the blitz in Cremona) and Spezia (today they would play the playout with Bari), then there will be the derby in Piacenza with Feralpisalò (now relegated), the match at Rigamonti with Lecco (see Feralpisalò) and the away match in Bari (see Spezia). If the Serie B championship ended at this moment, Brescia would play the first round away, a single match, at the home of Palermo, who would have two results out of three at their disposal. Calendar difficulty level: medium.

Sampdoria, which today would be the last team to access the playoffs by facing Catanzaro away in the first round, has one point less than Brescia and from here to the end will have only one direct playoff clash (at home with Reggiana in the penultimate round) while in the next three matches they will face Spezia away, Como at home (currently second and promoted to Serie A, but must defend themselves from the onslaught of Venice and perhaps Cremonese again) and will go to Lecco while on the last day they will be in Catanzaro. Calendar difficulty level: medium-high.

Pisa and Cittadella today would be the first of those excluded from the playoffs. The Tuscans, like Samp, also have a direct playoff clash in the penultimate round: at home with Sudtirol. On Saturday they will be in Bari then they will receive Catanzaro, they will visit Cremonese and finish in Ascoli (currently relegated team). Calendar difficulty level: medium-high.

The Paduans, who continue to talk only about salvation, will have their first direct playoff clash on Saturday playing in Bolzano against Sudtirol, will receive Feralpisalò, will go to Como, host Bari and finish in Cremona. Calendar difficulty level: high.

Sudtirol also says they are only thinking about survival, but they are -2 from the playoffs and after the direct clash hosting Cittadella, they will have suffered another one in Modena and in the penultimate match in Pisa. The other two matches are with Ternana and Palermo at home. Calendar difficulty level: medium-high.

We have also included Modena in the playoff race, which is in a prolonged state of crisis (8 draws and 3 defeats in the last 11, they have not won since January 27th) is the most behind and will still have two direct clashes (Sudtirol at home and Reggiana away) in addition to the away to Ascoli, the home match against Como and the final trip to Lecco. The new coach Pierpaolo Bisoli will have to perform a miracle to reach the playoffs, which was the objective of the season. Calendar difficulty level: medium-high.
