Toasts opens the doors to tourists. The spring air, which led many inhabitants to crowd the beaches of the Adriatic coast last weekend, today welcomed two cruise ships and over 4 thousand passengers to the city. Mind-boggling numbers in what, perhaps, can be considered to all intents and purposes a dress rehearsal in view of the first dinner of G7 which will be held in Castello Svevo on June 13th. A Monday that also attracted the ever lively interest of citizens, who from many angles wanted to witness the mooring maneuvers of two landing places. The first was, in the morning, the Celebrity Constellation, a ship belonging to the fleet of the US company Celebrity Cruises, controlled by the Royal Caribbean group. An absolute first, but destined not to remain an isolated case: in fact, there are twelve total stops scheduled during the current cruise season and which are part of the “Best of Italy & Croatia” itinerary.
The MSC Sinfonia
In the afternoon, around 3.30pm, it was the turn of the MSC Sinfonia (fixed stop, every Monday, 33 times) in the internal port with 2,241 passengers on board and 737 crew members, with departure for Mykonos at 10pm. Almost 2 thousand transits in total, with 335 cruise passengers who chose to end their journey in Brindisi. A season that promises to be a record one with 60 calls in the port of Brindisi and practically impeccable organisation.
